Position Description
Friends is seeking a Database Coordinator who is interested in working with a highly respected organization that is known for moving the needle in cancer research and policy. Ideal candidates should have a strong interest in cancer research and policy issues, in addition to being a self-starter with great attention to detail.

 

The Database coordinator will provide a wide range of database management, research and analysis, administrative, and general support to our development, communication and operations. The Database Coordinator will support the entire spectrum of database functions of Friends which serves as the primary foundation for our fundraising and outreach.

 

Specific Responsibilities
Responsibilities fall under the following areas: database management, constituent communications, research and analysis, other.

 

Database Management – 55%
• Serve as key manager of the entire CRM system
• Maintain donor files through CRM
• Train new employees on the use of CRM
• Assist in coordinated electronic mail campaigns
• Prepare reports using CRM for fundraising analysis as well as direct mail

 

Constituent Communications – 10%
• Processing gift acknowledgements on a weekly basis
• Assist with mailings, filing, and special projects as needed
• Prepare mail merge for any mail distribution (annual report, reception invite, scientific reports)

 

Research & Analysis – 25%
• Assist with researching prospects in support of various sponsorship and programmatic activities
• Conduct research on strategic partners, markets and industries
• Analyze and provide recommended actions regarding coordinated campaigns and outreach
• Prepare reports and documents for internal and external use

• Perform analyses of outreach strategies and activities
• Assistance in developing foundation grant proposals

 

Other – 15%

• Assist in planning events and other activities by strategically generating guests list
• Attend weekly staff meetings
• Keep updated internal documents used to track pledges and anticipated major gifts
• Aid in preparation of meeting materials – name tags, folders, etc

 

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree required in related field.
• At least 2 years professional experience desired.
• Experience with databases such as Salesforce, Salsa Labs, or Raisers Edge is a plus.
• Strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail.
• High ethical standards and personal integrity.
• Strong writing, research and analytic abilities.
• Desire to learn more about fundraising, non-profit leadership, science and policy.
• Collaborative team player with high degree of personal initiative and accountability.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
