Letter to Commissioner Califf re: Centers of Excellence

28 organizations, including Friends of Cancer Research, have sent the below letter to FDA Commissioner Califf in support of the creation of an FDA Oncology Center of Excellence, providing detailed recommendations as to how this program might be carried out to most benefit patients.

Friends of Cancer Research (Friends) recently proposed the Centers of Excellence as an innovative plan building on today’s advancements in science, drug development, and patient treatment by updating and enhancing the Food and Drug Administration’s structure. The Vice President’s office included this important proposal as part of its Cancer Moonshot initiative, prompting discussion and interest around the potential of the Friends’ proposal. It is also being included in the Senate companion bill to 21st Century Cures
