Congressional Reception
On May 20th, 2003 Friends co-sponsored with Senators Ted
Stevens (R-AK), Edward Kennedy (D-MA), Bill Frist (R-TN), Tom Daschle
(D-SD), and Judd Gregg (R-NH), a reception at the Capitol to welcome Drs.
Elias Zerhouni and Andy von Eschenbach. 15 Senators, 1 Representative,

ASCO Study
Group
On June 1st, 2003 at the American Society of Clinical Oncologists (ASCO)
Annual Meeting, Friends hosted a Cancer Advocacy Study Group Dinner
together with Aventis UK. The event focused on strengthening patient
group-government interaction in the United Kingdom (UK), and specifically
on issues such as patient education, attention for ‘orphan’ cancers,
successful lobbying strategies, and government-patient relations...

Confronting Cancer Now
On November, 12 2003,
Friends of Cancer Research in
conjunction with the Division of U.S. Studies at the Woodrow Wilson
International Center for Scholars hosted a forum entitled,
“Confronting Cancer Now.” Our speakers and panelists raised a number of
important topics including the exciting gains in our understanding of
cancer’s genetic mechanisms and the consequent medical advancements in
terms of treatment and prevention, particularly in the fields of genomics,
proteomics, metabolomics, and molecular imaging...

On November 11th,
Friends of Cancer Research held a benefit dinner to honor our six Cancer

Town Hall
