• Cancer Research Policy

One out of every two men and one out of every three women will face some form of cancer in their lifetime.  Cancer policy plays an important role in confronting these alarming statistics; a policy environment conducive to progress is essential to translating research into cures.  As a policy intern at FOCR you will gain substantive first-hand experience and knowledge of an "inside the beltway" 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization.

• Non-Profit Management
  The Non-Profit Management Internship Program is designed for a graduate level student with experience in business administration and an interest in non profits active in the health care policy arena.  This intern would work directly with the director and board chair to help develop ideas for improving internal operations and management.   
   

  As a Management intern you will: - Meet with board members, directors of other non-profit organizations, legal counsel, and industry executives - Design and manage projects related to organizational administration and/or financing -  Gain understanding of the different financial scenarios that come with being a 501(c)(3) non-profit and how they differ from the corporate model -  Organize and implement database management -  Develop plans and set goals for improving corporate management and infrastructure

Our Internship Program is designed to accommodate both quarter and semester schedules, and applications are accepted on a rolling basis throughout the year.  The suggested time commitment is approximately  20 hours per week for 3 months but is flexible to accommodate course credit.  It is recommended that you submit your application at least three months in advance of your desired start date.
